The metal wind screen of each lighter is engraved with the "Feudor" name. Testing confirmed that only the middle lighter originally in the decorative metal sleeve presents a potential hazard.

The recall is due to a manufacturing flaw that could, over time, allow some of these lighters to develop excessively high flames. This defect creates a potential for serious burn injury. The CPSC is aware of a few minor facial burns and singeing of hair resulting from these lighters, but no serious injuries or deaths have been reported. Approximately 600,000 of these lighters were manufactured prior to 1985.

These lighters were sold nationwide over the past 18 months by retailers including Kmart, Snyder's Drugs, Yellow Front Stores, Lucky Stores, LeVerdiere's, and other retail chains, drug stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores. Consumers should immediately return the metal-sleeved lighter to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund.
