Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Sets Recalled for Battery Ingestion Risk

Missry Associates recalls Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Sets (model MT2287) because the battery compartment screw can detach and button cell batteries in the shuttlecock can be easily accessed by children, posing risk of serious injury or death if swallowed.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a toy that violates a mandatory safety standard with risk of serious injury or death from battery ingestion. Although no illnesses have been reported, the product presents a significant risk of harm to children, meeting the Severe threshold for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet occurred.

Plain-English summary

Missry Associates, Inc., doing business as Misco Enterprises, is recalling the Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Set, model MT2287. The set includes two black rackets, one ball, and one shuttlecock. The product violates the mandatory safety standard for toys because the screw securing the battery compartment does not remain attached when opened, and the button cell batteries inside the shuttlecock can be easily accessed by children.

If button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, they can cause serious internal chemical burns and death. The sets were sold at TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores nationwide from February 2026 through March 2026 for about $10. Model number MT2287 and batch number 100125 are printed in white letters on the racket handle.

Consumers should stop using the racket set immediately, remove the shuttlecock from children's reach, and contact Missry Associates for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to dispose of the racket set with the shuttlecock in the trash and send a photo of the set in the trash to [email protected]. Button cell batteries should be disposed of or recycled according to local hazardous waste procedures.
