LED Light-up Jelly Ring Toys Recalled for Battery Ingestion Hazard
Attom Tech is recalling about 4,100 LED light-up jelly ring toys sold on Amazon because the button cell batteries inside can be easily accessed and swallowed by children, posing a risk of serious internal injury and death.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (button cell battery ingestion can cause serious injury or death) where no injuries have yet been reported. Per the rubric, products with serious potential hazards and no reported illness fall at severity score 3 (High).
Plain-English summary
Attom Tech, LLC is recalling LED light-up jelly ring toys distributed exclusively through Amazon.com from August 2021 through June 2024. The rings are sold in packs of 30 in a plastic bag marked with the "NiToy" logo, with individual rings wrapped in plastic. The product came in various shapes, sizes, and colors and retailed for about $16.
The recalled toys violate federal battery-operated toy regulations. The rings contain button cell batteries that fit within the CPSC's small parts cylinder and can be easily removed without tools. When swallowed, button cell batteries can cause serious internal chemical burns and death in children.
No injuries have been reported to date. Consumers should stop using the toys immediately, remove them from children, and contact Attom Tech for disposal instructions and a full refund. Button cell batteries should be taken to a recycling facility or local household hazardous waste collection site. Amazon is notifying all known purchasers.
