Bella Pro Series and Cooks espresso machines recalled due to burn and laceration hazards

Sensio recalls about 12,300 Bella Pro Series and Cooks Steam Espresso machines because the brew cup handle can eject forcefully, shattering the carafe. Eight of 18 ejection reports involved burn and laceration injuries.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves reported burn and laceration injuries from a forcefully ejecting component on a consumer appliance. Eight of 18 reported handle ejection incidents involved actual injuries, meeting the criterion for significant injury reports.

Plain-English summary

Sensio Inc. is recalling approximately 12,300 Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Maker (Model 90195) and Cooks Steam Espresso Maker (Model 22395) units. The recalled espresso machines are black with stainless steel trim, measure about six inches wide and 12 inches high, and bear the brand name on the steaming chamber with the model number listed as the 'Item' number on a sticker under the machine.

The machines were sold at JCPenney stores nationwide and online through BestBuy.com and JCPenney.com between August 2023 and January 2025 for between $40 and $60.
