BMC recalls Kaius 01 bicycles and framesets for fork separation hazard

BMC has recalled all BMC-branded Kaius 01 bicycles and framesets sold between July 2022 and February 2025. The fork steerer tube on these bicycles can crack, break, or separate during use, posing a fall hazard to riders.
The affected bicycles and framesets have a V5 fork and were sold in seven color variations: Peacock Spider, Carbon Black/Brushed Blue, Purple/White, White/Black, Turquoise/Black, Saffron/Black, and Stone Grey. About 1,300 units are affected. They were sold nationwide through authorized BMC bicycle dealers and online for between $4,500 and $12,000.
BMC has received two reports of V5 fork steerers separating from bicycle frames. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact an authorized BMC dealer for a free inspection and free replacement of the forks.
