Plain-English summary
Cabinet Health Inc. of Washington, D.C. is recalling approximately 65,000 refillable 4 oz. medicine bottles. The bottles are made of clear glass with blue, turquoise, orange, or purple plastic lids labeled 'CABINET.' Affected bottles include both empty bottles and bottles filled with over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers, allergy relief, cough relief, and sleep aids.
The plastic lids on these bottles can degrade after repeated openings, causing the child-resistant closure to diminish. This loss of child-resistance creates a risk that children could open the bottles and swallow the medication or other contents. No injuries have been reported to date.
The recalled bottles were sold online through cabinethealth.com, Amazon.com, and Grove.co, as well as at CVS stores, between March 2023 and July 2024, for between $10 and $20. Consumers can identify recalled bottles by specific date codes on the bottom of the bottle, which are provided in the recall notice for each medication type.
Consumers should immediately secure the recalled bottles out of sight and reach of children. Cabinet Health is offering free replacement lids to all purchasers. Consumers can contact Cabinet Health at 908-242-6108 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday), by email at [email protected], or through the company website at cabinethealth.com/voluntaryrecall. This recall does not affect the medication contents of the bottles.
