What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This is a risk-of-harm product (child stroller) with documented mechanical failures (219 brake-failure reports) but no reported injuries, meeting the rubric criterion for High severity.

Plain-English summary

This recall involves Guava Roam First Generation strollers manufactured between July 2020 and December 2021. Approximately 8,500 units were sold online through guavafamily.com and babylist.com from August 2020 through October 2023, priced between $500 and $550.

The stroller's brakes can fail to engage when pushed down or unexpectedly disengage while in use. This creates a fall hazard that could injure children using the stroller. The manufacturer has received 67 reports of the brake lock disengaging and 152 reports of the brake pedal failing to engage. No injuries have been reported as of the recall date.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers. Guava Family will provide a free repair kit and new installation instructions to registered customers.
