Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits Recalled for Ingestion and Choking Hazards

Buffalo Games and Target are recalling Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits because ingested water beads expand and can cause choking and intestinal obstruction in children. One infant death and one serious injury requiring surgery have been reported.

Buffalo Games and Target Corporation are recalling the Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kit. The purple box contains jumbo and regular water beads along with toy fish, scoops, tweezers, activity cards, and instructions. The product has UPC number 079346627035 and was sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from March 2022 through November 2022 for approximately $15. About 52,000 units were sold.

If a water bead is ingested, it expands inside a child's body and can cause ingestion, choking, and intestinal obstruction hazards, resulting in severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, and a risk of death. Buffalo Games has received one report of a 10-month-old child's death from swallowing the water beads in July 2023 in Wisconsin. The company also received a report that a 9-month-old child was seriously injured in November 2022 in Maine from swallowing the water beads, which caused an intestinal obstruction requiring surgery.

Consumers should immediately stop using and take away the recalled water beads from children.
