Paradise Grills First Generation Outdoor Kitchens Recalled for Fire and Burn Hazards

About 18,000 Paradise Grills First Generation Outdoor Kitchens are recalled because liquid propane gas can accumulate in the closed lid and cabinets, causing an explosion and severe burns when the grill is relit. Two reports of explosions causing severe burns have been received.

The recalled models are the GX-3, GX-4, GX-5, GX-6, GX-7, GX-8, GX-9, GX-10, GX-11, GX-12, GX-14, Tahiti, Fiji, Tropicana, Aruba 6, and Aruba 8. The products were sold at Paradise Grills showrooms and at home, boat, and RV shows nationwide from January 2009 through December 2020 for between $4,000 and $15,000.

The hazard is that liquid propane (LP) gas can accumulate inside the closed lid and cabinets. When a user relights the grill, this accumulation can cause an explosion, creating fire and burn hazards. The firm has received two reports of grills exploding, causing severe burns to consumers.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grills. In Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama, consumers should contact Paradise Grills to schedule a free repair that includes installation of a new 16" x 4" stainless steel vent and labor. In all other states, consumers should contact Paradise Grills to receive free shipment of the vent, installation instructions, and reimbursement for installation costs by a qualified professional; the firm will require a copy of the paid installer's invoice or billing statement.
