Intertex Recalls B-Air, BlueDri, and Soleaire Blowers Due to Fire Hazard
Intertex is recalling approximately 189,000 B-Air, BlueDri, BlueDri Pro, and Soleaire blowers because unprotected side outlets pose a fire hazard.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fire hazard where no injuries or fires have been reported, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.'
Plain-English summary
Intertex, LLC is recalling several models of centrifugal and axial blowers sold under the B-Air, BlueDri, BlueDri Pro, and Soleaire brands. The recall involves approximately 189,000 units sold in the United States and about 8,153 units sold in Canada. These blowers were sold at Home Depot and Lowe's stores nationwide and online at various retailers from January 2008 through July 2020 for between $120 and $300.
The blowers have convenience outlets on the side of the unit that are not protected by a circuit breaker. If these outlets become overloaded or short-circuited, they could overheat, posing a fire hazard. No injuries or fires have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using the convenience outlets on the side of the recalled blowers. They should contact Intertex for a free repair, which includes a free cordset adapter with an integrated circuit breaker. Intertex can be reached at 800-465-7300 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected], or online at www.b-air.com.
