Plain-English summary
Hooey LLC is recalling approximately 6,600 units of children's sweatshirts with drawstrings in the hood. The recall involves 15 styles of youth-sized sweatshirts made of polyester and cotton, available in boys' and girls' sizes XS through XL. The garments feature a single front pocket and a white size label at the center back neck indicating "Hooey" and "Made in China."
The drawstrings in the hood pose a strangulation hazard to children. According to the recall notice, drawstrings can become entangled or caught on playground slides, hand rails, school bus doors, or other moving objects. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
The sweatshirts were sold at Boot Barn, Orscheln's, Cavenders, and other western wear apparel stores from September 2017 through October 2019 for about $45. An additional 520 units were sold in Canada. Consumers should immediately take the recalled sweatshirts away from children and remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard.
