SSR Motorsports is recalling 2019 off-road competition motorcycles because the front fork assembly can fail, causing a crash and injury hazard.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (front fork failure) that poses a risk of harm and has resulted in reported injuries (bruising), but no fatalities or serious injuries are reported, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for risk-of-harm products where injury has been reported but is not severe.
Plain-English summary
SSR Motorsports is recalling approximately 420 two-wheeled 2019 competition off-road motorcycles. The affected models are the SR70Auto, SR70C, SR110Semi/DX, and SR125Auto. These motorcycles are identified by the letter K in the 10th position of the 17-digit VIN number stamped on the right side of the steering stem. The motorcycles are manufactured by Zhejiang Kayo Motor Co. Ltd. of China and imported by Value Group Enterprises dba SSR Motorsports of Norwalk, California.
The recall is due to a hazard where the vehicle's front fork assembly can fail during use. This failure can cause the rider to lose control, resulting in a crash. SSR Motorsports has received three reports of the front fork assembly failing, with two of those incidents resulting in bruising.
The motorcycles were sold at authorized SSR Motorsports dealers nationwide from February 2019 through June 2019 for between $800 and $1,200. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled motorcycles and contact their local SSR Motorsports dealer to schedule a free repair. SSR Motorsports is also contacting registered owners directly.
