Traeger Grills is recalling approximately 16,100 Scout and Ranger portable wood pellet grills. The recall is due to a fire hazard caused by grease leaking from the drip tray. The grills are black-metal rectangular boxes with a clamshell opening, measuring about 21 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The Scout model features a curved silver handle and a round temperature dial, while the Ranger model has a straight silver handle and a push-button touchpad.
The company has received six reports of grease fires in the grills, but no injuries have been reported. The affected units were sold at Costco, Ace Hardware stores, other stores nationwide, and online from March 2018 through July 2018 for between $300 and $400.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grills. They can contact Traeger Grills for a free replacement grill, a free replacement drip tray to repair the grill, or a full refund.
