The recalled garments are olive green, made of polyester and spandex with a sherpa-lined hood, and feature an asymmetric front zipper. They were sold in girls' sizes S (6-7), M (8-10), and L (12) at Nordstrom stores nationwide and online from November 2016 through January 2017 for about $60. The sweatshirts have drawstrings inside the lining of the hood, which can become entangled or caught on playground slides, hand rails, school bus doors, or other moving objects, posing a significant strangulation or entanglement risk to children.

No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. The garments were manufactured in China and imported by RDG Global LLC of New York. Consumers can identify the recalled items by looking for a blue size label with "Freshman 1996" and "Made in China" at the center back neck, a label in the neck seam with "RDG Global LLC," "VB740," and "8K80375N," and a care label in the side seam with RN# 146919.

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the garment to eliminate the hazard. Alternatively, they can contact RDG Global or Nordstrom for a full refund.
