Plain-English summary
Breville USA Inc. is recalling approximately 35,600 Breville 6-quart Fast Slow Cookers. The recall involves model number BPR600XL with batch numbers between 1235 and 1529. These units were sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Best Buy, Macy's, Sur la Table, Williams Sonoma, Amazon.com, and BrevilleUSA.com from September 2012 through October 2015 for about $180.
The sealing gasket can be incorrectly inserted upside down on the lid, which may allow the unexpected release of built-up pressure. This poses a risk of burns to the user or consumers nearby. Breville has received five reports of steam or hot contents escaping, resulting in five reports of burns, including second-degree burns to the hands, arms, or stomach.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure cookers and contact Breville for a replacement sealing gasket and updated instructions. Breville can be reached at 800-983-3165 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or online at www.brevilleusa.com.
