Husqvarna is recalling approximately 24,000 Ariens, Husqvarna, Jonsered, and Poulan Pro tillers because the transmission shift rod can cause the machine to move unintentionally, posing a risk of injury.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk of bodily injury and laceration from unintended machine movement, but the source explicitly states that no incidents or injuries have been reported, fitting the High severity criteria for risk-of-harm products without reported injury.
Plain-English summary
Husqvarna Consumer Outdoor Products N.A. Inc. is recalling approximately 24,000 Ariens, Husqvarna, Jonsered, and Poulan Pro brand rear tine tillers. These machines are used for plowing, cultivation, and ridging gardens and lawns. The affected models include the Ariens A600DRT, Husqvarna CRT900, CRT900L, DRT900, DRT900E, and DRT900H, Jonsered J208C14 and J208D14, and Poulan Pro PRRT900. The tillers were sold in red, orange, and yellow/black colors between October 2014 and May 2015 for between $600 and $850 at hardware stores, home centers, and independent outdoor power equipment dealers.
The recall is due to a defect where the tiller's transmission shift rod and clip can come into contact with the control cable during shifting. This contact can cause the tiller to unintentionally move forward or backward, posing a risk of bodily injury and/or laceration. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tillers and return them to the nearest Husqvarna dealer for a free repair. For more information, consumers can contact Husqvarna toll-free at (877) 257-6921 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email [email protected], or visit www.husqvarna.com.
