Acorn received two reports of incidents where the seat post separated, resulting in deaths in the United Kingdom. There have been no reports of incidents or injuries in the United States.

The stair lifts were sold nationwide through Acorn Stairlifts and authorized dealers from March 2007 to December 2011 for about $3,400. Consumers should immediately contact Acorn for a free in-home repair. Until the stair lift is repaired, consumers should consider whether to continue using the lift based on their ability to safely use the stairs unaided. If a consumer is able to use the stairs safely, they should not use the lift until it is repaired.
