Lithonia Lighting Recalls Quantum Emergency Fixtures Due to Fire Hazard

These units, manufactured by Acuity Brands Lighting of Conyers, Ga., are white or black plastic fixtures containing two incandescent lights and a rechargeable lead acid battery. The recalled units have green circuit boards on both sides with either 'Rev B' or 'Rev C' printed in the top left corner. Fixtures with beige circuit boards or specific LED/SD/WRS models are not included in the recall.

The recall was issued because the circuit board can overheat, causing the fixture to melt, catch fire, and ignite nearby items. Lithonia Lighting has received 29 reports of circuit boards overheating and fixtures melting or catching fire. One incident resulted in more than $100,000 in property damage to an office building. No injuries have been reported.

The affected emergency lights were sold nationwide and online at electrical distributors, The Home Depot, W.W. Grainger, Inc. stores, grainger.com, and amazon.com from March 2010 through February 2014 for between $35 and $55.
