Wal-Mart Recalls Electronic Baby Dolls Due to Burn Hazard

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is recalling approximately 174,000 My Sweet Love and My Sweet Baby Cuddle Care electronic baby dolls. The 16-inch dolls, manufactured by Tak Ngai Electronic Toys Co., LTD, feature electronic components that cause them to babble, cough, and turn red cheeks when interacting with a toy medical kit. The recall is due to a hazard where the circuit board in the doll's chest can overheat, causing the surface of the doll to become hot enough to burn consumers.
The dolls were sold at Walmart stores nationwide from August 2012 through March 2014 for $20. Wal-Mart has received 12 reports of incidents related to the product, including two reports of burns or blisters to the thumb. The dolls are identified by UPC 6-04576-16800-5 and a date code beginning with WM printed on the label sewn into the bottom of the doll.
