Plain-English summary
Kubota Manufacturing of America Corp. is recalling approximately 8,600 Kubota ZG100 Series Zero Turn riding mowers. The recall involves orange-colored mowers with specific model and serial numbers: Model ZG124E (serials 10002-12179), Model ZG123S (serials 10002-12505), Model ZG127E (serials 10002-11574), and Model ZG127S (serials 10003-12959). The model and serial numbers are located on the data plate on the left part of the frame near the operator's foot area.
The recall is due to a fire hazard. The fuel tank's pressure relief valve can malfunction, causing the tank to expand and rub against the transmission drive belt and drive cooling fan. This friction can wear a hole in the fuel tank, leading to a fuel leak. The firm has received 56 reports of fuel tank leaks, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.
These mowers were sold at authorized Kubota dealers nationwide from December 2012 through April 2013 for between $5,000 and $6,300. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact Kubota for a free repair. Kubota is also contacting its customers directly. For more information, consumers can call Kubota at (800) 752-0290 from 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit www.kubota.com and click on Safety.
