These units were manufactured by LG Electronics (Tianjin) Appliance Co., Ltd. in China between 2003 and 2005 and sold at Sears and Kmart stores nationwide and online from 2003 to 2009. The recalled units are white plastic, stand between 21 and 24 inches tall, and feature front-loading water buckets. Specific model numbers include 580.54351400, 580.53509300, 580.53701300, 580.54701400, and 580.54701500.

The recall was reannounced due to seven additional incident reports of shorting and fire associated with the dehumidifiers. These incidents include one severe burn to a consumer's foot and three fires that resulted in more than $300,000 in property damage. The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke, melt, and catch on fire, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
