The commercial air movers, manufactured by EDIC of Los Angeles, Calif., are used to dry flooring, walls, and furniture in homes and other buildings. The units feature a green plastic housing measuring approximately 18 inches high by 18 inches long by 18 inches deep and have a 25-foot yellow electrical cord.
The recall is due to a fire hazard caused by the air mover's internal electrical capacitor, which can fail and overheat. Servpro has received four reports of overheating incidents involving the recalled units. Three of these incidents resulted in property damage, including a fire at a home in San Diego, Calif., that caused $475,000 in damage.
Users should immediately stop using the recalled air movers/blowers and contact Servpro for a free repair kit to be installed by users.
