The heaters pose a fire hazard because they have caught fire. Atico has received eight reports of the A14B1053 Heater Fan overheating and 21 reports of the A14B0979 Quartz Heater overheating. Reported incidents include flames coming from the units, smoke, melting of the plastic casing, damage to electrical outlets and walls, and one report of a consumer receiving minor burns to the hand.

Consumers should stop using the recalled heaters immediately. Because the manufacturer is out of business and the remedy is no longer available, consumers should discard or destroy the products. The heaters can be identified by model numbers NSB-200B (Heater Fan) and HD-700 (Quartz Radiant Heater) and item numbers A14B1053 and A14B0979, respectively. Model numbers are found on a silver sticker on the bottom of the unit, and both heaters are marked with manufacturing dates between June 1, 2010, and August 30, 2010.
