Miami Breaker Inc. is recalling approximately 43,600 counterfeit circuit breakers labeled as "Square D" or "SQD" in the QO series. These breakers, which include models QO115, QO120, QO130, QO215, QO220, QO230, QO240, QO250, and QO260, have been determined to be counterfeit by Square D. The recalled units may fail to trip when overloaded, creating a fire hazard for consumers.

The counterfeit breakers were distributed through electrical product distributors and wholesalers nationwide from March 2005 through July 2006. Single pole breakers were sold for between $3 and $4, while double pole breakers were sold for between $8 and $9. Genuine Square D QO breakers are distinguished by the amp rating written in white paint on the handle, the Square D insignia molded onto the side, and a yellow chromate clip with half of the top visible.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should immediately contact Miami Breaker to determine if their circuit breaker is counterfeit and, if necessary, arrange for a free inspection and replacement.
