Innovage Recalls Remote-Controlled Helicopter Toys Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

Plain-English summary

Innovage LLC is recalling approximately 685,000 Sky Scrambler and "The Sharper Image" wireless indoor helicopter toys. The recall was initiated because the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries inside the helicopters can overheat, catch fire, and ignite nearby combustibles, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

The recalled helicopters feature yellow, red, or blue decals. The model number BH26047 is printed on the tail of the Sky Scrambler helicopters, while "The Sharper Image" is printed on the tail of the other model. These toys were sold at mass merchandisers, department stores, drug stores, and other retail stores nationwide, as well as online, from June 2007 through May 2008 for approximately $20.

Innovage has received two reports of the toy helicopters igniting, including one incident resulting in a burn injury to a consumer's fingertip. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helicopters and contact Innovage for a full refund.
