These dispensers were sold to fast-food restaurants, discount department stores, movie theaters, and convenience stores nationwide from November 2001 through June 2007.
The recall is due to a problem with the dispenser's fluorescent lamp that can cause electrical arcing, posing a fire hazard. IMI Cornelius has received five reports of smoldering or fire involving the lamp, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.
Customers should immediately stop using the recalled dispensers unless the fluorescent lamp has been removed. IMI Cornelius is contacting customers directly to provide a free replacement light assembly.
