Plain-English summary
Felt Bicycles is recalling approximately 700 model year 2005 and 2006 Kinesis-made RXC mountain bicycles. The recall involves frames made with carbon fiber rear seat stays that are equipped with V-style brakes and not disk brakes from the factory. These frames were shipped to dealers between October 2004 and April 2006.
The hazard exists because the steel brake boss can detach from the frame, which may cause the rider to lose control and fall. Felt Bicycles has received three reports of the brake boss coming loose, but no injuries have been reported.
The bicycles were sold at bicycle specialty stores nationwide from October 2004 through April 2006 for between $1,050 and $5,000. Consumers should stop using the bicycles immediately and contact their local Felt bicycle dealer to receive a free inspection and repair. For more information, consumers can contact Felt Bicycles at (866) 433-5887 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit www.feltracing.com.
