Rossignol Ski Company, Inc. and Skis Dynastar, Inc. are recalling approximately 11,000 pairs of 2003/2004 model year snowboard bindings. The recall includes Rossignol-brand HC 500, Zena, Unit Pack, HC Rental, and Unit Rental models, as well as Dynastar-brand Classic RL and Classic Pack models. The recall does not involve current 2004-2005 products or other models.
The baseplate of the recalled bindings can break, which may result in loss of control and a possible fall and injury to the snowboarder. There have been reports of 23 broken bindings, but no injuries have been reported.
The affected bindings were sold at sporting goods stores and ski and snowboard rental shops nationwide from October 2003 through December 2003 for about $130. Consumers should return the recalled snowboard bindings to the place of purchase for a free replacement binding of equal value. This recall was implemented in December 2003. Consumers can contact Rossignol Ski Company, Inc. at 877-677-6092 or Skis Dynastar, Inc. at 800-992-3962 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
