The affected models include Midwest numbers R256EB1A, R256EB1NA, and R256EB1018A, and GE model TSLR1220CSAL. The recall covers units with date codes ranging from SAL421 through 432.

The recall was issued because some of these products were sold with loose internal bolt connections. This defect could result in excessive heat or fire. Six units have been returned with overheated connections, and one incident resulted in a fire that was contained to the product. There have been no injuries reported.

The products were distributed by electrical product distributors. Midwest and GE have begun contacting consumers, distributors, and utility companies to locate the affected products. Consumers can repair or replace the product at no charge.
