Plain-English summary
Kubota Tractor Corporation is recalling approximately 16,000 Kubota RTV900 utility vehicles sold in the United States. These four-wheel, off-road vehicles with cargo boxes were sold through authorized Kubota RTV900 dealers nationwide from January 2004 through October 2004 at a suggested retail price between $9,899 and $11,199. The affected vehicles have serial numbers ranging from 10001 through 25883, and "RTV900" appears on the side of the front hood.
The recall is being issued because the front hood of the RTV900 utility vehicle can come off during operation. If this occurs, the hood can strike the driver or passenger, causing serious personal injury. Kubota has received reports of two personal injuries to the face and/or back while people were operating the vehicles.
Consumers should stop using the recalled vehicles immediately and contact the nearest Kubota RTV900 dealer to schedule an appointment. The dealer will inspect the hood and, if necessary, replace it free of charge. Consumers can also contact Kubota Tractor Corporation toll-free at (888) 458-2682, Ext. 990, or visit www.kubota.com for more information.
