Plain-English summary

Electrolux Home Products Inc. is recalling 5,280 Husqvarna lawn tractors, specifically models LTH18542A and LTH18542B. These 18.5 horsepower, gasoline-powered tractors with hydrostatic transmission and 42-inch cutting decks were sold nationwide through Husqvarna dealers and distributors from November 2003 through July 2004 for approximately $1,500.

The recall is due to a design issue where the location of the fuel line clamp can cause abrasions on the fuel tank. This abrasion can result in a fuel tank leak, which poses a fire hazard to consumers. Husqvarna has received four reports of fuel tanks leaking, but there have been no reports of fire or property damage.

Consumers with one of the recalled lawn tractors should contact an authorized Husqvarna service provider in their area to receive a free repair. The model plate containing the model number information is located under the seat. For more information or to locate a dealer, consumers can call Husqvarna at (800) 448-7543 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.usa.husqvarna.com.
