Plain-English summary
Far East Brokers and Consultants Inc. (FEBC) is recalling approximately 500 Kiddie Car Cruisers sold exclusively at Big Y stores in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The recall was announced on June 9, 2004. The Kiddie Car Cruiser is a battery-operated ride-on toy car measuring about 27 inches high by 30 inches wide and 44 inches long, with "Turbo" and "Cruiser" printed on the side labels.
The recall is being conducted because the Kiddie Car Cruiser can continue to run when the accelerator is no longer depressed. This malfunction could result in the rider losing control of the car. FEBC has received 10 reports of the car continuing to run when the accelerator was not depressed, but no injuries have been reported.
The recalled units were sold from May 6 to May 13, 2004, for about $100 with a Big Y Express savings card and about $300 without a savings card. Consumers should stop using the recalled car immediately and return it to a Big Y store to receive a refund. For additional questions, consumers can call FEBC at (877) 332-9006 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
