The recall is being issued because the cooking controls are miswired, which can pose a shock hazard to consumers. BSH Home Appliances has received two reports of the cooking controls malfunctioning, though no injuries have been reported.
The cook tops were sold at appliance and specialty stores nationwide from March 2002 through September 2002 for between $1,000 and $1,100. Consumers should stop using the cook tops immediately and contact BSH Home Appliances at (800) 758-1001 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to arrange a free in-home repair.
