These multi-use products, which function as both a child's chair and a food/beverage cooler, were distributed for free to hotel guests with children at participating Hilton, Doubletree, and Hilton Garden Inn hotels and resorts nationwide between May 2002 and June 2002. The chairs feature either a purple or green aluminum frame with corresponding fabric seats and cooler bags, and were manufactured in Hong Kong by Promotional Partners Group Limited.
The recall is due to a hazard where the folding mechanism can crush, cut, or sever consumers' fingers if the chair collapses. CPSC and Hilton Hotels are aware of one report in which part of a 2-year-old boy's fingertip was severed when the chair collapsed.
Consumers should stop using the recalled cooler chairs immediately. They should contact Hilton Hotels at (310) 205-4465 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday, for information on returning the item and receiving a free replacement.
