Swift Beef Company, doing business as JBS USA Food Company, is recalling approximately 4,702 pounds of beef stew products that may be contaminated with foreign matter, specifically plastic and metal. The recall was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on December 26, 2017.
The affected products include cases of fresh beef stew meat intended for HEB grocery store re-packaging, as well as re-packaged beef stew meat trays and HEB brand beef stew items. These products were produced on December 13, 2017, and shipped to HEB retail stores in Texas. The issue was discovered on December 24, 2017, when HEB opened boxes containing the multi-vac packages. HEB subsequently locked the sales of all stew meat from their registers and pulled all products from shelves in all stores.
