The recall was initiated after plant management notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on August 5, 2017, that a production lot of carcasses received from Callicrate Ranch on July 31, 2017, tested positive for non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) serogroup O26. The products were shipped to retail locations, wholesale locations, and restaurants in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. FSIS and the company are concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers' freezers.
