Plain-English summary
CC Kitchens, LLC, a Cincinnati, Ohio establishment, is recalling approximately 2,415 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry salad products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected items were produced and packaged between May 31, 2017, and June 5, 2017, and include Chef Salad, Chicken & Bacon Cobb Salad, Chef Side Salad, and Chicken & Bacon Cobb Side Salad in various clamshell package sizes. These products bear establishment number EST. P-45676 and were shipped to retail locations in Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia.
The recall was initiated after a supplier notified CC Kitchens that lettuce used in the production of these salads was involved in a precautionary recall due to positive environmental test results for Listeria. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. However, consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Persons in higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and inform their health care provider about the consumption.
