Gusto Packing, a Montgomery, Illinois establishment, is recalling approximately 67,113 pounds of sliced, spiral ham products due to concerns about possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall includes specific cases of iCentrella Signature, Amish Valley, and Ripple Creek Farms brands, packaged on November 29 and 30, 2013. These products bear the establishment number EST. 2516 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The issue was identified when Gusto Packing's internal sampling program found that some products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Although the positive products were initially frozen and held for reconditioning, the company later discovered that some had inadvertently shipped into commerce. The hams were shipped to wholesalers for distribution in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, with some exported to Canada.

FSIS and the company have received no reports of illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. However, consumption of food contaminated with L. monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women.
