Winnebago motorhome door windows can loosen and detach during transit

Winnebago is recalling certain 2020-2024 View and Navion RVs with Lippert Metallarte door assemblies because incorrect window adhesion can cause the window to loosen or detach.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: a bonding failure that lets a window detach from a moving vehicle is a structural failure that creates a road hazard for other traffic.

Plain-English summary

Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain 2020-2024 Winnebago View and Navion recreational vehicles equipped with certain Lippert Metallarte door assemblies. About 5,313 units are potentially affected.

The door assembly may have been manufactured with incorrect window adhesion, causing the window to loosen or detach.

NHTSA states that a window that detaches during transit can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will install clips to secure the window to the door as necessary, free of charge. An interim owner letter was mailed on December 20, 2024, and a second notice will be mailed once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
