2018-2023 Kia Stinger Turbocharger Oil Leak Engine Fire Risk

Kia is recalling 2018-2023 Stinger and 2019-2020 K900 vehicles due to potential engine fire from deteriorating turbocharger oil feed pipes.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm condition (potential engine compartment fire) where no injuries or deaths have been reported. Per the rubric, such recalls are scored as High.

Plain-English summary

Kia is recalling certain 2018-2023 Kia Stinger and 2019-2020 K900 vehicles equipped with 3.3-liter turbo gasoline direct injection engines. The left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly in these vehicles may deteriorate over time and leak oil.

When the oil feed pipe deteriorates and leaks, the oil can come into contact with hot engine components. This creates a fire risk in the engine compartment while the vehicle is driving.

If you own one of these vehicles, Kia has notified owners by mail (notification letters were sent April 26, 2024). Dealers will replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly at no charge. To schedule service, contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. You can also reach the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
