Moritz Recalls 2015-2016 Trailers Due to Axle Mounting Bracket Defect
Moritz is recalling 2015-2016 trailers because axle mounting brackets may not be properly tightened, creating a risk of axle detachment and crashes.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where axles may detach, leading to an increased risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects.
Plain-English summary
Moritz International, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 CR-series, SR-series, DLH-series, FH-series, UDC-series, FH+10-series, ULH-series, ULH+6-series, and ULC-series trailers manufactured between March 6, 2015, and June 19, 2016. The affected trailers have axles whose mounting brackets may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the axles may detach from the trailer.
If an axle loosens or detaches, there would be an increased risk of a crash. Moritz will notify owners, and dealers will properly tighten the axles, free of charge. The recall began on July 22, 2016.
Owners may contact Moritz Customer Service Department at 1-419-526-5222. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
