Corp. Micro Bird Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 G5 school buses manufactured between March 25, 2013, and May 1, 2015. The recall involves 283 vehicles where the positive battery feeder stud in the battery box may prematurely corrode. Additionally, bolts designed to mount the battery box may be missing.
If the feeder stud corrodes, a short circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire. If the battery box mounting bolts are missing, the battery and box may detach, causing damage to other components.
Micro Bird will notify owners, and dealers will replace the feeder stud components, install a protective cap to prevent corrosion, and install any missing battery box bolts free of charge. The recall began on September 22, 2015. Owners may contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 extension 364 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
