Discount Tire Recalls Pathfinder SAT Tires Due to Tread Separation Risk
Discount Tire is recalling specific Pathfinder SAT light truck tires because an inner liner gauge defect may cause tread separation and rapid air pressure loss.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (tire tread separation) that can cause rapid air pressure loss and increase the risk of a vehicle crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Discount Tire is recalling certain Pathfinder SAT light truck tires manufactured between August 2013 and May 2015. The affected models include the LT245/75R17E1 121R W, LT265/75R16E1 123Q W, LT265/70R17E1 121S B, and LT275/65R18E1 123S B. These tires may have been manufactured with an inner liner gauge that is lower than specified.
As a result of this defect, the tire tread may separate, leading to rapid air pressure loss. If a tire experiences tread separation or air pressure loss, it can increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Discount Tire will notify owners, and dealers will provide replacement tires or refund the purchase price, free of charge. The recall began on August 21, 2015. Owners may contact Discount Tire customer service at 1-888-519-6914 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
