Federal Corporation is recalling certain model Couragia A/T LT245/75R16 120/116Q 10PR tires manufactured between May 2013 and April 2014. The affected tires have sidewall stampings of DOT UXA3 and calendar weeks of 1913 through 1414. A total of 6,209 tires are affected by this recall.
The defect involves cracks in the tire shoulder caused by the separation of the steel belt edge. This condition causes the tires to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles." Shoulder cracks may result in an unexpected loss of tire pressure, which increases the risk of a crash.
