Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is re-recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Fit vehicles previously covered under recall 10V-033. The remedy applied in the earlier recall may have been insufficient. In the affected vehicles, the plastic cover may separate from the master power window switch over time, allowing water to enter the driver's window and reach the switch.
If the master power window switch is damaged by water intrusion, it may overheat and fail. An overheated switch can cause smoke, melting, and fire. Honda will notify owners to have a free inspection conducted at a dealer. If the switch is damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. If the switch is not damaged, owners will be instructed to await a second notification to return for a replacement switch installation, which Honda anticipated for Fall 2013.
