Plain-English summary
Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Rubicon travel trailers manufactured between December 8, 2010, and July 15, 2011. The recall involves 171 units that may have been manufactured without the exterior furnace vent installed in the sidewall of the trailer.
The defect allows the furnace to run without proper exhaust ventilation, which can release carbon monoxide into the interior of the unit. This condition could result in asphyxiation or carbon monoxide poisoning. Additionally, heat buildup from the exhaust can also result in a fire.
Dealers will inspect the trailer to verify the furnace exhaust is present and install one if necessary, free of charge. The safety recall began on August 26, 2011. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0700 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
