The fuel pump module contains a roll-over valve (ROV) designed to prevent fuel from leaking into the evaporative emissions canister during a rollover incident. However, improper ultrasonic welding of the plastic case housing the ROV may cause the material to break or crack. This failure can cause the ROV to separate from the case and stop functioning, increasing the risk of fuel leakage in a rollover.

If fuel leaks and comes into contact with an ignition source, it could result in a fire. The recall affects 18,056 vehicles. Dealers will inspect the fuel pump module and replace it free of charge if necessary. The safety recall began on April 25, 2011.
