Webasto is recalling certain sunroofs installed by Rogers Stereo because the glass can separate from the frame, creating a road hazard.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where the sunroof glass can separate, posing a significant risk of striking a trailing vehicle and causing a crash.

Plain-English summary

Webasto Product North America, Inc. is recalling certain Hollandia 700 and 600 Series and Hollandia TVS 900 Series sunroofs. These units were installed as original equipment by Rogers Stereo on various passenger vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where the adhesive bond between the sunroof glass and the metal frame can debond.

This debonding increases the risk that the sunroof glass will separate from the vehicle. The separation can develop gradually, potentially evidenced by metal corrosion around the frame, wind noise, vibration, visual bond separation, or water leakage. If the glass separates, the falling glass could create a road hazard, strike a trailing vehicle, and cause a crash.

Owners who have been identified as having an affected sunroof will receive a safety recall notice from Webasto. The safety recall began on October 8, 2010. To determine if a vehicle is affected, owners can review the list of vehicles provided by Rogers Stereo or visit Webasto's website at www.sunroofcheck.com.
