Webasto Product North America, Inc. is recalling certain Hollandia 700 and 600 series and Hollandia TVS 900 series sunroofs. These sunroofs were installed as original equipment by Carolina Restyling on various passenger vehicles. The recall involves 390 affected units.
The defect involves the adhesive bond between the sunroof glass and the metal frame, which can debond. This increases the risk that the sunroof glass will separate from the vehicle. Signs of this issue may include metal corrosion around the frame, wind noise, vibration, visual bond separation, or water leakage.
If the glass separates, it could fall and create a road hazard, strike a trailing vehicle, or cause a crash. Webasto will perform the safety recall campaign. Owners of affected vehicles will receive a safety recall notice from Webasto. The recall began on October 8, 2010.
