Webasto Sunroof Glass Separation Recall for Various Passenger Vehicles

Webasto is recalling certain sunroofs installed by Dealer Works, Inc. because the glass can separate from the frame, creating a road hazard.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where the sunroof glass can separate, posing a risk of striking trailing vehicles and causing a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects and significant injury/property-damage reports.

Plain-English summary

Webasto Product North America, Inc. is recalling certain Hollandia 700 and 600 series and Hollandia TVS 900 series sunroofs. These units were installed as original equipment by Dealer Works, Inc. on various passenger vehicles. The recall involves 947 affected units.

The adhesive bond between the sunroof glass and the metal frame can debond, increasing the risk that the glass will separate from the vehicle. Complete separation can develop gradually and may be evidenced by metal corrosion around the frame, wind noise, vibration, visual bond separation, or water leakage.

If the glass separates, the falling glass could create a road hazard, strike a trailing vehicle, and cause a crash. Owners who have been identified as having an affected sunroof will receive a safety recall notice from Webasto. The safety recall began on October 8, 2010. To determine if a vehicle is affected, owners should review the affected vehicle list provided by Dealer Works, Inc., visit Webasto's website at www.sunroofcheck.com, or call Webasto toll-free at 1-888-749-8632.
